AmanaCare has been busy in the Kearney and Grand Island areas this spring, connecting with students who are preparing for careers in healthcare. Building relationships with future nurses, healthcare professionals, and caregivers is an important part of ensuring that Nebraska families continue to have compassionate, dependable people caring for them in their homes.
Recently, AmanaCare attended two career events:
- The 2026 Nurses & Health Careers Job Fair at Central Community College in Grand Island
- The University of Nebraska at Kearney Career and Internship Fair
These events gave us the opportunity to meet students from nursing and health career programs and introduce them to caregiving and healthcare career opportunities with AmanaCare.
Meeting Students Face-to-Face
Brenae Wiemers, Recruiting and Outreach Specialist, attended both events and spent time talking with students about caregiving opportunities, flexible scheduling, and career paths within home care. Rosie Flores, Bilingual Liaison, joined Brenae at the Nurses & Health Careers Job Fair, and Jodi Bronson, Director of Human Resources, supported hiring efforts at the UNK Career and Internship Fair.
One of Brenae’s favorite parts of the events was simply meeting students and having real conversations.
“My favorite part was meeting students face-to-face and having genuine conversations about caregiving opportunities.”
The Central Community College job fair included approximately 60 graduating students and 80 first-year students from nursing programs in Columbus, Grand Island, and Kearney. Many students were exploring part-time opportunities while in school and full-time opportunities after graduation.
What Students Are Looking For
At both events, students were very interested in:
- Flexible schedules
- Weekly pay
- Meaningful work
- Part-time opportunities while in school
- Full-time opportunities after graduation
- Jobs where they could build relationships and gain experience
Brenae shared that one of the biggest things students appreciated was flexibility.
“Several students loved that we work around school schedules and are flexible.”
This is something that makes home care a great fit for students in nursing and healthcare programs. Caregiving allows students to gain hands-on experience, learn communication skills, understand patient care in real-life settings, and build relationships while still working around their class schedules.
Why Caregivers Choose AmanaCare

Is Caregiving a Good Fit for You?
Caregiving might be a great fit if:
- You care deeply about helping others
- You want flexible hours that work with your life
- You are dependable and professional
- You value faith, family, and integrity
- You want to build relationships, not just work shifts
Caregiving is meaningful work that allows you to make a real difference in someone’s life every day.
Opportunities Beyond Caregiving
AmanaCare also hires for office and leadership roles that support caregivers and clients behind the scenes. These positions may include:
