At AmanaCare, we believe that caring extends far beyond the walls of our clients’ homes. Whether we’re raising awareness for Alzheimer’s disease or celebrating older adults in our community, we are committed to showing up and making a difference.
Recently, our North Platte team had the privilege of participating in two incredible community events that highlighted the power of connection, support, and engagement.
Kicking Off the Walk to End Alzheimer’s Season
What an amazing evening it was at the first-ever Walk to End Alzheimer’s Local Company Kickoff event hosted at Pals Brewing Company in North Platte!
The event brought together local businesses, community leaders, advocates, and supporters who are passionate about making a difference for families affected by Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia.
One statistic shared during the evening was particularly impactful: six out of ten Alzheimer’s caregivers are also working full-time jobs while caring for a loved one.
Think about that for a moment.
Every day, countless individuals in our communities are balancing careers, raising families, and managing caregiving responsibilities all at once. Alzheimer’s and dementia don’t just affect individuals—they impact entire families, workplaces, and communities.
That’s why AmanaCare is proud to support the Alzheimer’s Association Nebraska Chapter and the annual Walk to End Alzheimer’s.
Our North Platte team was honored to contribute raffle prizes for the kickoff event and spend time connecting with others who are dedicated to supporting caregivers and families living with dementia.
Pals Brewing Company and event organizers created such a welcoming and inspiring atmosphere. The enthusiasm shown by local businesses and newly formed Walk teams gives us tremendous hope as we continue working toward a future without Alzheimer’s.
The North Platte Walk to End Alzheimer’s will take place on Sunday, September 27, and we encourage everyone to consider participating, forming a team, or supporting the cause in any way they can.
Celebrating Seniors at Nebraskaland Days Golden Games
Community spirit was also on full display during the annual Golden Games, held at the North Platte Rec Center as part of the beloved NEBRASKALAND Days festivities.
Golden Games is a special event designed for adults aged 55 and older, bringing together participants from across Nebraska and beyond for a day filled with fun, friendship, and celebration.
This year’s event welcomed visitors from multiple counties, communities, and even neighboring states. Attendees enjoyed coffee and donuts, entertainment from the Frontier Revue, appearances by Miss Rodeo contestants and Buffalo Bill representatives, and the opportunity to meet sailors from the USS Nebraska.
AmanaCare was proud to sponsor the popular Wheel of Fortune game during the event.
Participants had the chance to win gift cards to local businesses, including area restaurants and the Bible Supply Store, along with a variety of AmanaCare goodies such as handheld fans, reusable cups, sunscreen, lip balm, hand sanitizer, and summertime gift bags. Most importantly, events like Golden Games remind us how valuable social connections truly are.
Isolation and loneliness can significantly impact the health and well-being of older adults. Opportunities to gather, laugh, engage with others, and create meaningful memories are essential components of healthy aging.
At AmanaCare, we see every day how important companionship, community involvement, and purposeful engagement are for the individuals we serve.
AmanaCare Cares
We believe that care happens everywhere—not just in homes, but also in communities, at events, and through partnerships that strengthen and support families.
Thank you to everyone who helped make these events possible. We look forward to continuing to serve, support, and celebrate our North Platte community.
