There’s never a dull moment at AmanaCare North Platte!
Whether we’re welcoming clients into the office, volunteering in the community, educating local professionals, or finding creative ways to connect with others, our team believes that great care extends far beyond the walls of a client’s home.
Here’s a look at what we’ve been up to recently!
When Clients Become Friends
One of the things that makes the North Platte office so special is the relationships we build with our clients and caregivers.
It’s not uncommon for them to stop by the office just to say hello, share exciting news, or catch up with the team.
Recently, one of our clients visited with his caregiver, Kendra, to proudly show off several of his incredible colored-pencil drawings. The level of detail and artistry was truly impressive, and our staff loved hearing about what they’ve been working on together.
Moments like these remind us that caregiving is about so much more than assistance with daily tasks—it’s about encouraging hobbies, celebrating accomplishments, and sharing in life’s joyful moments.
Making National Hot Dog Day a Little More Fun
Who says national holidays can’t brighten someone’s workday?
To celebrate National Hot Dog Day, Sara Yates, Director of Operations, and Ashley Huffman, Care Coordinator, delivered fun treat bags to the hardworking team at the West Central Nebraska Area Agency on Aging.
Complete with hot dog-shaped candy and a few smiles, the deliveries were simply our way of saying “thank you” to the Service Coordinators who work tirelessly to support older adults and individuals with disabilities throughout our region.
Sometimes the smallest gestures leave the biggest impression.
Working Together for Better Patient Care
Collaboration continues to be one of AmanaCare’s greatest strengths.
Amber Corbin, Business Development Specialist, partnered with Caring Friends and Angels Care Home Health to present a Lunch & Learn for discharge planners at Great Plains Regional Medical Center.
The presentation highlighted the many ways local healthcare organizations can work together to support patients as they transition safely home after a hospital stay.
By collaborating rather than competing, we’re helping families connect with the resources they need while strengthening the continuum of care throughout our community.
Creativity, Conversation… and Cupcakes!
One of our newest community outreach programs is already bringing smiles to North Platte.
Sara Yates and Heather Schanou recently hosted the very first Crafting Connection with AmanaCare session at the North Platte Housing Authority.
Residents spent the afternoon painting beautiful beach scenes while enjoying great conversation, plenty of laughter, and yes… cupcakes!
Everyone left with a piece of artwork to display at home, but even more importantly, they left having spent meaningful time together with neighbors and friends.
We’re already looking forward to next month’s project!
Bringing Hope to Families
The North Platte office recently welcomed two representatives from the Early Development Network for breakfast and a conversation about Nebraska’s Legally Responsible Individual (LRI) Program.
The meeting focused on helping families understand how parents and spouses may be able to become paid caregivers for eligible loved ones through the Medicaid Aged & Disabled Waiver.
By the end of the conversation, there were smiles all around and a renewed sense of hope for some of the children and families they support.
Helping people discover resources they didn’t know existed is one of the most rewarding parts of what we do.
Rotary: Building Relationships That Strengthen Our Community
Community involvement continues to be an important part of AmanaCare’s mission.
This month, Heather Schanou was officially inducted into the Rotary Club of North Platte and had the opportunity to present to the club the following week.
Together, Heather and Sara answered questions about the many individuals AmanaCare serves, payment options, and the variety of care situations families often encounter.
Every conversation helps raise awareness that compassionate, personalized home care is available for seniors, veterans, individuals with disabilities, and families throughout our region.
Serving Beyond Home Care
Every Friday, the North Platte team proudly volunteers to deliver Meals on Wheels for the North Platte Senior Center.
It’s one of our favorite traditions.
Delivering a meal may only take a few moments, but for many recipients, it’s also a friendly visit, a warm smile, and reassurance that someone is thinking about them.
It’s just one more way AmanaCare is honored to serve our community beyond the care we provide every day.
At AmanaCare North Platte, we believe that caring doesn’t end when a shift is over. Whether we’re delivering meals, teaching healthcare professionals, celebrating a client’s artistic talents, hosting community craft days, or simply dropping off hot dog-shaped candy to make someone smile, every interaction is another opportunity to strengthen relationships and make our community a little brighter.
