Advocacy, perseverance, and heart in action
We are proud to recognize Adrienne Johnson as AmanaCare’s Caregiver of the Month for January. Adrienne has been part of the AmanaCare family for nearly a year, and throughout that time, her compassion, determination, and advocacy have made a lasting impact on the lives of the clients she serves.
Adrienne is the kind of caregiver who doesn’t just show up—she steps up. Lincoln Care Coordinator BreeAnn Osborne shared that Adrienne consistently goes above and beyond for her clients, advocating fiercely for their needs and always being willing to help when her schedule allows. Her reliability and willingness to serve wherever she’s needed make her a trusted presence for both clients and team members.
One of Adrienne’s most powerful examples of dedication comes from her work with a client who had experienced a brain injury. As April Finnell, Eastern Nebraska Scheduling Coordinator, explained, the client’s family hoped to see her more engaged in his community and participating more fully in the facility she called home. Adrienne embraced that goal wholeheartedly. She brainstormed creative ideas, spent time at the gym with her, practiced patience, and kept trying—even when progress was slow, or outcomes weren’t what she had hoped for. She never quit. Her commitment meant so much that the client later shared heartfelt sentiments about Adrienne with her family, a true testament to the relationship she built.
Adrienne’s advocacy extends beyond individual shifts. Executive Director Jenny Laschansky shared how Adrienne once went as far as making an in-person visit to the AmanaCare office to advocate for a male client in Lincoln. When it became clear that VA policies limited what could be done directly, Adrienne didn’t stop there. Instead, she helped guide the client toward the appropriate contacts who could assist him in navigating those barriers—always ethically and respectfully—so he could still receive the support he needed.
Whether she’s supporting clients through complex challenges, collaborating with other agencies to ensure continuity of care, or patiently encouraging progress day after day, Adrienne leads with heart. Her light truly shines bright, and her actions reflect the very best of AmanaCare’s mission: honoring dignity, advocating fiercely, and caring deeply.
Adrienne, thank you for being such a powerful example of what it means to be an AmanaCare caregiver. We are incredibly grateful for you.
