At AmanaCare, our mission is simple and deeply rooted in our identity: We honor the God-given dignity of those we serve and lead.
We believe every person is a unique gift from God — worthy of compassion, respect, and care that reflects who they are as an individual. This belief guides our relationships, our decisions, and the way we show up in homes across Nebraska every day.
Being faith-based and Nebraska-focused isn’t just something we say.
It’s who we are.
Why Our Nebraska Roots Matter
Because we are homegrown, we understand the heart of Nebraska — the strong family ties, the community values, and the importance of knowing your neighbor. From home health care Lincoln to home care assistance Omaha, home care North Platte, medicaid waiver home care Kearney, and in home care Scottsbluff, we are committed to serving the full range of communities that make Nebraska special — from busy cities to the most rural towns.
“As the COO, faith plays an integral part in every decision we make. This work is a calling, and we want our choices to reflect that. And as Nebraskans, our desire is to serve our state. As the saying goes, there’s no place like Nebraska.”
— Tim Martens, Chief Operations Officer
Care That Honors the Whole Person: The Care360 Approach
Every person we serve has a story — a history, a family, a future. Our Care360 model ensures we are supporting mind, body, and spirit, because true independence and well-being go beyond physical needs.
Care360 Means:
- Community & Connection
Staying engaged with family, friends, church, hobbies, and life. - Active Body & Mind
Gentle movement, nourishing meals, meaningful conversation, and activities that spark joy. - Faith & Spiritual Support
Whether it’s finding online services, attending church, or simply praying together — we meet each person where they are. - A Safe Home Environment
We help ensure living spaces support comfort, mobility, and peace.
Our care plans are personalized based on the person — not just their diagnosis.
Our Story Begins With Family
AmanaCare was founded by Kathleen Horsley, who grew up in Columbus, Nebraska. Her grandmother lived with her family, and it was the caregivers in her home who changed everything — offering dignity, comfort, and presence when it mattered most.
From that experience, a calling became a mission — one built on faith, compassion, and service.
The word “Amana” means faithfulness, loyalty, and trust — values we live out every day.
The Heart of Our Team: Voices from Across Nebraska
A Personal Mission Inspired by Family
“When my mom needed home care after her cancer returned, that experience changed me. Having caregivers we could trust gave my family the gift of time — and peace. That’s what AmanaCare gives families every day.”
— Heather Schanou, Director of Marketing
This story is also why Heather now helps families who ask questions like:
“Can I get paid to care for a family member in Omaha?” or “Can I get Medicaid Waiver Home Care in North Platte?” The answer to both of those questions is a resounding “Yes!
Because many families don’t know that faith-based in-home care support exists. We walk with them through programs like the Nebraska Medicaid A&D Waiver that makes these options possible.
Serving Western Nebraska with Purpose
“Working for a faith-based, Nebraska-focused company keeps me grounded in my values — hard work, compassion, and caring for your neighbors. It’s more than a job. It’s a calling.”
— Susanna Rogers, Business Development, Western Nebraska
Susanna connects with caregivers, community partners, and senior programs across the Panhandle — ensuring in home care Scottsbluff and surrounding towns remains personal, local, and trust-filled.
Leading with Heart
“We want every family to feel seen, heard, and supported. When someone reaches out to us, it’s usually during a vulnerable moment. Our message is simple: You’re not alone. We’re here to help.”
— Jodi Bronson, Director of Human Resources
Growing With Purpose
“My faith is what led me to this company and continues to guide me every day. We are Nebraska communities serving Nebraska communities — walking together.”
— Jenny Laschanzky, Administrator
Care Begins With the Heart
Faith. Family. Compassion.
These values aren’t just part of our culture — they are our culture.
They guide how we care.
How we listen.
How we show up.
How we love people well.
This is the AmanaCare way.
