At AmanaCare, we often say that this work is more than a job — it’s a calling. And if you spend even five minutes with Rosie Flores, you’ll understand exactly what that means.
Rosie was born and raised in Allende, Nuevo León, Mexico. From a very young age, caring for others wasn’t something she chose — it was simply part of who she was.
“I think I was about nine years old,” Rosie recalls. “In my hometown, there were many seniors who needed help, and not many people stepped in. My mom would send me to help them — not for money, but out of gratitude.”
She brought meals. She called the doctors. She stayed overnight when someone needed assistance getting to the bathroom or taking medications. While other children were playing, Rosie was learning compassion in action.
That heart never left her.
From Sales Success to a Sacred Promise
Rosie married at 16 and moved to the United States, settling in San Antonio, Texas. She attended San Antonio College and Palo Alto College and quickly built a strong career in retail management.
She worked at Macy’s La Cantera, eventually earning promotion to Saks Fifth Avenue — one of the most prestigious stores in the country. She consistently ranked in the top ten in sales and customer service.
“I’ve been told I could even sell stones,” she laughs.
But just as she reached the peak of her career, life shifted dramatically.
She became pregnant with a high-risk pregnancy. At the same time, her mother was diagnosed with cancer.
“My whole world went down,” she says.
And that’s when everything came full circle.
Rosie returned to school and earned her CNA certification. She pursued additional certifications in dementia care, hospice care, and physiology. She wanted to understand more — to help her son and her mother in the best way she could.
During that season, she made a promise.
“I told God that if He would send an angel to care for my mother, I would take care of everyone who came into my path like they were my own family.”
That promise was made 18 years ago — and she has been living it ever since.
Serving as AmanaCare’s Bilingual Liaison
Today, Rosie serves as AmanaCare’s Bilingual Liaison and Bilingual Communication Coordinator in the Kearney area.
She provides communication support between Spanish-speaking clients, caregivers, and our administrative team. From scheduling appointments to resolving concerns, Rosie ensures clarity and compassion in every interaction.
In healthcare, clear communication isn’t just helpful — it’s critical. Rosie bridges language gaps so families feel heard, understood, and respected.
Her background in business, leadership, and sales allows her to problem-solve quickly and confidently. But it’s her heart that truly sets her apart.
A Life Rooted in Family
Rosie is a proud mom of three boys — ages 36, 23, and 17. Family is everything to her.
When she’s not serving families in Kearney and beyond, she loves traveling, listening to music, watching a good movie, and enjoying a cup of coffee — hot or iced cappuccino, depending on the day.
