The Latest from Lincoln: Community Connections, Creative Care, and Celebrating Excellence

Community Connections and Creative Care in Lincoln | AmanaCare

The Lincoln team has been busy making meaningful connections throughout the community while finding creative ways to brighten the days of those we serve.

Bringing Smiles on National Hot Dog Day

Sometimes the smallest gestures leave the biggest impressions.

To celebrate National Hot Dog Day, Mikah Christensen, Director of Operations for Lincoln, and Heather Schanou, Director of Marketing, visited physician offices, physical therapy clinics, retirement communities, medical plazas, law offices, and other local businesses throughout north Lincoln, delivering fun “National Hot Dog Day” treat bags.

The goal wasn’t just to celebrate a quirky national holiday—it was to introduce AmanaCare to new people, strengthen relationships with community partners, and bring a smile to someone’s day.

At AmanaCare, we believe community outreach isn’t always about asking for referrals. Sometimes it’s simply about showing people we’re thinking of them and reminding them we’re here when they need us.

A Creative Twist on Team Building

The Lincoln office recently gathered for a branch meeting with a unique activity that combined teamwork and creativity.

After discussing important office updates and initiatives, team members spent time painting rocks with uplifting messages, cheerful designs, and encouraging phrases.

These colorful creations will be distributed by BreeAnn Osborne, Lincoln’s Care Coordinator, during supervisory visits with clients—small reminders that someone is thinking of them and that compassion often comes in the simplest forms.

Supporting Nebraska’s Disability Community

Community involvement is one of AmanaCare’s core values, and that commitment was on full display at Lincoln’s Disability Pride Day.

Mikah Christensen and Amber Corbin, Business Development Specialist for Central Nebraska, represented AmanaCare with an informational booth, sharing resources and educating attendees about the many ways our team supports individuals with disabilities and their families.

Despite the summer heat, they proudly spent the day connecting with community members and advocating for greater awareness, inclusion, and access to quality in-home care services.

Celebrating Leadership Excellence

The Lincoln office also has another reason to celebrate.

Please join us in congratulating Heather Schanou, Director of Marketing, on being named AmanaCare’s Q2 Leadership Excellence Award recipient!

Heather was recognized for consistently demonstrating the professionalism, compassion, and commitment that define excellence at AmanaCare. Whether supporting coworkers, stepping in wherever needed, or finding innovative ways to serve clients, caregivers, and referral partners, Heather exemplifies servant leadership and lives out AmanaCare’s mission every day.

As Human Resources Director Jodi Bronson shared:

“Heather exemplifies what excellence looks like. She leads with kindness, integrity, and a strong work ethic, always putting others first while maintaining an unwavering commitment to quality. We are incredibly grateful for everything she brings to our team, and this recognition is so well deserved. Congratulations, Heather, and thank you for making AmanaCare stronger every single day.”

Congratulations, Heather, on this well-deserved recognition!
