Every day at AmanaCare, we witness the incredible resilience and joy of the clients we serve — and Sayer, a 27-year-old Omaha client, is no exception. Sayer is a passionate football fan (especially when the Dallas Cowboys are playing!), a dog lover, and someone who works hard every day to maintain independence despite significant challenges.

With the support of his AmanaCare caregiver, Sayer enjoys getting out into the community — shopping, hitting the gym for workouts, and taking his dog out for walks. These simple outings empower him to stay active and connected.

Sayer also partners with the Nebraska Commission for the Blind and Visually Impaired (NCBVI), where he receives braille instruction and essential skill-building services. Alongside visual impairment, Sayer lives with dystonia — a neurological movement disorder that causes involuntary muscle contractions, twisting, or cramping. Dystonia can make everyday tasks more difficult, but Sayer approaches each challenge with determination and heart.

Recently, Kelly from NCBVI visited Sayer’s home for something special — a cooking lesson full of creativity, courage, and fun. With crockpots warming, cutting boards ready, and Kelly guiding the process, Sayer whipped up a culinary masterpiece! The photos from that day say it all: smiles, focus, teamwork, and the unmistakable joy of learning new skills.
