In November, AmanaCare had the honor of participating in the Veterans & Community Career Fair hosted by the Nebraska Department of Labor — an event dedicated to connecting local job seekers, especially veterans and their spouses, with meaningful employment opportunities.

Representing the North Platte office, Heather Schanou, Marketing Director, and Sara Schroeder, Care Coordinator & Scheduling Coordinator, spent the day meeting attendees, answering questions, and sharing how AmanaCare supports seniors and adults with disabilities across Nebraska.

A Day Focused on Veterans, Community, and Opportunity

The annual fair brought together nearly 40 employers and community organizations. Job seekers were able to meet face-to-face with hiring managers, explore training programs, and learn about local support services. Priority access was given to veterans and military spouses.

The goal? To help service members transition successfully from military life into careers that honor their skills, experience, and dedication.

As Vince Garcia, NDOL Veteran Reemployment Coordinator for Region 2, shared:

“It’s next to Veterans Day and it raises Veteran awareness that we’re out there to work. It lets veterans know that employers have seasonal help that could turn into full-time positions — and it lets people know there are jobs out there waiting for them.”

We were grateful to be part of that mission.

How AmanaCare Serves Veterans Through the VA’s Community Care Network

Many veterans are eligible to receive in-home care services through the Veterans Administration — and AmanaCare is proud to be an in-network provider through the VA’s Community Care Network (CCN).

What Is the Community Care Network?

The CCN expands healthcare options for veterans by allowing them to receive services from approved community providers when a VA facility cannot meet their needs.

It’s managed regionally by Optum Serve and TriWest and includes:

  • In-home care
  • Rehabilitation
  • Routine care
  • Specialty services
  • Surgeries and more

Veterans must work with their VA healthcare team to determine eligibility.

How Veterans Get Started With AmanaCare (Step-by-Step)

  1. Find an in-network provider — like AmanaCare In-Home Assistance.
  2. Request a referral through the VA healthcare team.
  3. The VA reviews eligibility and prepares the referral (can take up to 14 days).
  4. Schedule the appointment — either on your own or through the VA.
  5. Receive your authorization letter confirming approval.
  6. Begin services and follow approved care plans.

We’re grateful to serve our local veterans with dignity, compassion, and the personal support they deserve.
