Walking Together for Hope: Join the Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s This Fall

oin Nebraska’s 2026 Walk to End Alzheimer’s | AmanaCare

Across Nebraska, thousands of families are walking for one reason: hope.

Hope for better treatments.

Hope for more support.

Hope for a future without Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia.

This fall, communities across our state will come together for the Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s®, the world’s largest fundraiser dedicated to advancing Alzheimer’s care, support, and research.

With exciting new treatments emerging and research continuing to move forward, now matters more than ever.

Walk With Nebraska

This year’s Nebraska Walk to End Alzheimer’s events include:

📍 Lincoln – September 27, 2026
📍 North Platte – September 27, 2026
📍 Hastings – October 4, 2026
📍 Norfolk – October 4, 2026
📍 Grand Island – October 11, 2026
📍 Omaha – October 11, 2026
📍 Kearney – October 18, 2026

No matter where you live, there’s an opportunity to walk alongside others who share a commitment to supporting individuals and families affected by Alzheimer’s disease.

How to Get Involved

Participating is simple:

1. Register

Sign up for the Walk nearest you, then start or join a team. Invite family members, friends, coworkers, neighbors, or anyone who wants to make a difference.

2. Fundraise

Every dollar raised helps the Alzheimer’s Association continue providing education, care, support services, advocacy, and groundbreaking research.

The Association makes fundraising easy with online tools, social media resources, and the ALZ Fundraising App to help participants spread the word.

3. Walk

On Walk Day, communities gather to celebrate hope, honor loved ones, remember those we’ve lost, and stand together in the fight against Alzheimer’s disease.

While there is no cost to register, participants are encouraged to raise funds to support the Alzheimer’s Association’s mission of improving care today while working toward treatments, prevention, and ultimately, a cure.

Businesses Can Make a Difference, Too

The Walk to End Alzheimer’s isn’t just for individuals—it’s an incredible opportunity for local businesses to make a lasting impact in their communities.

Organizations can:

  • Form a company team
  • Sponsor their local Walk
  • Encourage employee participation
  • Raise funds together
  • Demonstrate their commitment to supporting local families

Whether your team consists of two people or twenty, every participant helps move the mission forward.

AmanaCare’s Commitment Goes Beyond Walk Day

At AmanaCare, supporting individuals living with dementia and the families who care for them isn’t something we do one day each year—it’s part of who we are.

What began as a simple idea to host a vendor table at the North Platte Walk has grown into a much deeper partnership with the Alzheimer’s Association.

Today, AmanaCare is proud to serve as a Corporate Sponsor of the North Platte Walk to End Alzheimer’s.

Our own Sara Yates, Director of Operations for North Platte, serves as Chair of the North Platte Walk Committee, helping lead local planning efforts and encouraging community involvement.

Sara has also partnered with Heather Schanou, Director of Marketing, on numerous Alzheimer’s-related initiatives throughout the year.

One of those partnerships comes to life on August 29, when AmanaCare will host the Empowered Caregiver Conference in North Platte alongside the Alzheimer’s Association and other community partners. This free educational event is designed to equip family caregivers, professional caregivers, healthcare professionals, and anyone interested in learning more about dementia care with practical resources, education, and encouragement.

Why We Walk

For Sara and Heather, this mission is deeply personal.

Like so many Nebraskans, both have witnessed the effects Alzheimer’s disease has on families they love.

They understand the heartbreak, the uncertainty, and the challenges caregivers face every day.

That’s why they’re passionate about helping raise funds for research, increasing awareness, supporting caregivers, and ensuring families know they don’t have to walk this journey alone.

At AmanaCare, caring extends far beyond the services we provide in our clients’ homes. It means investing in our communities, supporting organizations making a difference, and standing beside families during some of life’s most difficult seasons.

Join Us

Whether you register to walk, form a team, volunteer, sponsor an event, or simply make a donation, your participation makes a meaningful difference.

Together, we’re funding research.

Together, we’re supporting caregivers.

Together, we’re bringing hope to families across Nebraska.

And together, we’re walking toward a future without Alzheimer’s disease.

We hope you’ll join us this fall as we take steps toward hope—one walk, one family, and one community at a time.
