Congratulations to Tessa Barthel of Ainsworth, our August 2026 Caregiver of the Month!
Since joining AmanaCare in April, Tessa has been providing care for a young client with significant disabilities. While his care needs are extensive and require patience, skill, and attention to detail, Tessa has become so much more than a caregiver—she has become a source of joy, adventure, and encouragement.
Every day brings something new.
Whether they’re playing football in the yard, splashing in the swimming pool, taking walks through the community, cooling off with popsicles, or laughing through water balloon games, Tessa has made it her mission to create the kind of childhood every kid deserves.
One of her client’s favorite memories this summer?
An Easter egg hunt—in May.
Because sometimes the calendar doesn’t matter. What matters is creating moments that bring joy.
His parents often hear excited stories at the end of the day about everything he and Tessa did together. Those conversations have become a reminder that while Tessa is providing exceptional care, she’s also creating lasting memories.
Going Above and Beyond
Providing excellent care means supporting every aspect of a client’s daily needs, and Tessa consistently goes above and beyond.
She assists with all activities of daily living, communicates regularly with his parents throughout the day, and approaches every task with patience, responsibility, and genuine compassion.
What makes Tessa truly exceptional isn’t just what she does—it’s how she does it.
Rather than simply completing her responsibilities, she looks for opportunities to enrich her client’s life, encourage independence, and make every day meaningful.
His family recently shared just how much that means to them.
They told us that Tessa has given their son a real summer—one filled with outdoor adventures, laughter, and experiences instead of spending day after day in front of a screen.
Community members have even commented on seeing the pair out enjoying everything summer has to offer.
One of the most touching compliments came from his family, who described Tessa as a “diamond in the rough.”
They recognized how difficult it can be to find a caregiver who genuinely loves what they do—not because it’s a job, but because they truly care about the people they’re serving.
There may be no higher compliment than that.
Home Care Isn’t Just for Seniors
