There has been a lot happening lately at AmanaCare’s North Platte office, and we are feeling incredibly grateful for the opportunities to connect with our community, support local families, and continue growing our mission of compassionate in-home care in the community.
One of the highlights of the month was the Women of Achievement Luncheon in North Platte, where AmanaCare’s Director of Marketing, Heather Schanou, was honored to be selected as a finalist in the Business category. The event celebrated women making a difference throughout the community, and it was such a meaningful experience to be surrounded by inspiring leaders and supportive friends.
Heather was joined by local North Platte team members Sara Yates and Ashley Huffman, as well as Susanna Rogers, Business Development Specialist from AmanaCare’s Scottsbluff office. Having coworkers there to cheer each other on was a beautiful reminder that AmanaCare is more than a workplace — it’s a team that genuinely supports and encourages one another.
The North Platte office has also been heavily focused on caregiver recruitment and outreach. Recently, the team hosted multiple hiring events for caregivers, including a fun “Build Your Own Candy Box” event that allowed prospective caregivers to stop in, learn about opportunities at AmanaCare, and enjoy some treats while connecting with staff. These relaxed and welcoming events help showcase the supportive culture that AmanaCare strives to create for caregivers.
As the need for in-home care continues to grow throughout Nebraska, so does the need for compassionate caregivers. AmanaCare is actively hiring caregivers in North Platte and surrounding communities for flexible positions that truly make a difference in people’s lives. Whether someone is looking for meaningful work, flexible scheduling, or the opportunity to care for others in their own community, caregiving can be an incredibly rewarding career path.
Community education has also remained a priority. Heather recently presented to residents at the North Platte Housing Authority, sharing information about AmanaCare’s services and resources available to older adults and individuals needing support at home. Conversations like these are important because many people simply do not realize what types of assistance are available that could help them remain safe and independent in their homes longer.
Relationship building within the North Platte community has continued as well. Sara and Heather attended the ribbon cutting for Caring Friends, a local business that is only a couple blocks away from the AmanaCare office. The event was delightful, and conversations centered around future collaboration opportunities, including sharing authorizations and other ways the two organizations can work together to support the community. Caring Friends owner Michelle made everyone feel incredibly welcome, and we are excited to continue building that relationship.
In addition to supporting Caring Friends, Heather also attended the ribbon cutting for Accura Healthcare of North Platte as part of her involvement with the Chamber of Commerce. Supporting other local businesses and organizations is something AmanaCare deeply values because strong communities are built through collaboration, encouragement, and connection.
The North Platte team has also been making strides in Veteran outreach. Sara Yates and Ashley Huffman recently hosted a table at the 16th Annual VA 2K Walk and Roll event at the North Platte VA Outpatient Clinic. The event was a collaboration between Employee Whole Health, Healthcare for Homeless Veterans, and local caring businesses like AmanaCare.
The event created meaningful opportunities to connect directly with veterans and their families. Five veterans took AmanaCare information and expressed interest in reaching out for assistance. One Veteran became emotional while speaking with the team because he was so grateful to learn that help was available. A social worker from the VA clinic was also present to answer questions about how veterans can begin receiving services through AmanaCare, helping simplify the process for attendees.
Internally, the North Platte office was also blessed to spend time with Jodi Bronson, AmanaCare’s HR Director, who visited the office and spent the day with the team. The group shared lunch together centered around prayer intentions, encouragement, and fellowship — another reminder of the faith-based culture that remains at the heart of AmanaCare’s mission.
Meanwhile, the office has been actively working on outreach related to the LRI (Legally Responsible Individual) Program. The North Platte team has been assembling informational bags for local schools to help families learn about the opportunity for parents and spouses to become paid caregivers for eligible loved ones through Medicaid waiver services. Ashley Huffman has been making calls to schools throughout the area, and many have warmly welcomed the opportunity to receive and share information with families who may benefit from the program.
From caregiver hiring events and veteran outreach to ribbon cuttings, educational presentations, and celebrating local women leaders, there is certainly no shortage of activity happening in North Platte. AmanaCare is proud to continue investing in the people and partnerships that make western Nebraska such a special place to serve.
