Heather Schanou, Marketing Director at AmanaCare, recently had the joy of calling Bingo at the Camelot Friendship Center in Omaha, NE. Camelot is a place where seniors 60 and older gather daily for fun, friendship, and a variety of engaging activities.
From cards and crafts to chair volleyball, tai chi, musical performances, and—of course—Bingo, Camelot offers something for everyone. Weekday meals are served at 11:30 a.m., giving participants the chance to share food, laughter, and connection. The full calendar of events can be found on Facebook under “Camelot Community Center,” or by emailing Barb White at barbara.white@cityofomaha.org.
When Heather stopped by to call Bingo, she didn’t come empty-handed. In true AmanaCare fashion, she brought along prizes—sweet treats, candy, and fun Halloween surprises—because, as everyone at Camelot will tell you, winning at Bingo is a big deal and deserves a reward!
Heather also delivered two beautiful gift baskets donated by AmanaCare for the upcoming Harvest Luncheon, happening on Wednesday, October 22nd at 11:00 a.m. The event will feature live music by Michael Walker and a performance by the talented Tuesday Tappers. Lunch is just $10 and promises to be filled with good food, great company, and joyful entertainment.
The two baskets AmanaCare donated were carefully designed with seniors in mind:
- Sweet Kitchen Comforts Basket – filled with useful kitchen items like Tupperware, potholders, snacks, treats, and canned goods.
- Blessings and Comfort Basket – packed with thoughtful touches, including a cozy blanket, journal, word search book, candle, lotion, tissues, and warm socks.
Each basket will go to a senior who can truly benefit from these little comforts—because small acts of kindness can make a big difference in someone’s day.
Events like these remind us why AmanaCare is proud to serve Nebraska’s seniors with home care Omaha families can count on. Just as Camelot Friendship Center provides a place for seniors to stay active, social, and engaged, AmanaCare provides home care assistance Omaha residents need to remain safe, supported, and independent in the homes they love.
Heather shared, “It’s always such a blessing to spend time with our local seniors. They have incredible stories, and I love being part of the community that celebrates them.”
Camelot Friendship Center is always buzzing with activities—fitness classes, crafts, musical events, and more. You can even rent Camelot for special occasions by contacting Barb at barbara.white@cityofomaha.org.
Whether it’s a game of Bingo or a moment of connection over lunch, every day at Camelot reminds us that community matters—and at AmanaCare, we’re grateful to be a small part of it.
