At AmanaCare, every office has a heartbeat — and in North Platte, that heartbeat is Ashley Huffman, our Care Coordinator, who brings compassion, leadership, and a whole lot of heart to everything she does.
Pictured alongside Ashley in this feature are Heather Schanou, Marketing Director; Amber Corbin, Business Development Specialist for Central Nebraska; and Sara Yates, Scheduler for North Platte. Together, this team represents the collaboration that keeps care running smoothly for families and caregivers across the region.
From a Mountain Town to a Nebraska Community
Ashley grew up in Bailey, Colorado, a small mountain town where neighbors truly looked out for one another. That sense of community stuck with her — and it shows in the way she approaches care today.
“Growing up in a place where everyone knew each other taught me the value of connection, support, and showing up for people when they need it most.”
That foundation of care and community now guides her work with AmanaCare families and caregivers in North Platte and beyond.
What Drives Her in Home Care
Ashley is motivated by more than just schedules and care plans — she’s driven by people.
She has a genuine passion for helping individuals feel seen, valued, and capable, whether that’s a client working to maintain independence or a caregiver finding confidence in their role.
“I love encouraging both clients and caregivers to recognize their strengths and feel proud of the work they do.”
That perspective makes her a powerful advocate and a steady presence for families navigating care decisions.
A Career Built on Care and Leadership
Ashley’s journey in long-term care began hands-on, working as a CNA, and grew into leadership and administrative roles that gave her a full view of what quality care really requires.
She recently graduated from Southeast Community College with her Associate of Applied Science in Long-Term Care Administration, strengthening her passion for person-centered care and systems that truly support both clients and caregivers.
Her background allows her to bridge the clinical, operational, and emotional sides of home care — ensuring no one feels like just a number.
Family at the Center of Everything
At home, Ashley is part of a busy, love-filled household. She and her significant other are raising five children, ages 6 to 19 — and she’s also a special-needs parent.
Those experiences have shaped her deep understanding of:
- Advocacy
- Individualized support
- Patience and adaptability
“Parenting has taught me how important it is to meet people where they are and support what they need — not what’s easiest.”
That mindset naturally carries into her work with AmanaCare families.
Creativity, Calm, and Seasonal Gnomes
When Ashley isn’t coordinating care, she’s spending time with her family, listening to audiobooks, or diving into art and creative projects.
And here’s a fun fact that makes her team smile: Ashley has a gnome for every season and holiday — sometimes more than one! Her love for celebrating the seasons adds a little extra warmth and personality to the North Platte office.
